Learn to Crochet with Black Cat Crochet.
Beginners and improvers are welcome on all of our courses.
Our September & October classes will be learning how to make cosy hand warmers, perfect for the changing seasons.
We have 3 patterns for you to choose from including a basic plain hand warmer, a chunky ribbed hand warmer and our ever popular Granny Square hand warmer. Each pattern produces a different finished look but they are all suitable for complete beginners up to experienced crocheters.
What to Expect?
Our classes begin with a brief introduction whilst you choose the yarn and hook you would like to use, and of course which pattern to follow. Everyone works at their own pace, with one-one support from our experienced tutor, who will help you get the most out of the class, even if you’ve never picked up a crochet hook before. Our classes are a relaxed, fun environment designed to make sure everyone can work at their own pace. Most importantly, we keep the groups small.
We are happy to have children attending the class, if they wish to learn/improve their crochet skills. Please bear in mind they will need a ticket too, and must be accompanied by an adult.
What Should I Bring?
You don’t need to bring anything at all – we provide everything you need. If you choose to work in your own yarn you will require approx. 50g to complete a pair of hand warmers.
What Do I Leave with?
In these classes, we aim for everyone to finish at least one of their hand warmers, and leave with the skill to go home and complete its matching pair. You will also leave with a copy of the pattern, our ever popular “Beginners Guide to Crochet” and enough yarn to complete your project.
We hope that our patterns and beginners guide give you enough support to remember what you have learnt in the class – but fear not, our tutors are always happy to hear from you after the class (we positively encourage it) and are more than happy to offer ongoing support. From Thursday 16th September we will be holding our regular Crochet Chat group on a Thursday evening at the café. This is a relaxed, drop in session open to all. We are a mix of experienced crocheters and those who are just learning, there is plenty of help and support available and we would love to see you there.
